Get started on iPhone and iPad

In this tutorial you set up the app, sign in, look around your library and add your first title. It takes about five minutes.

Before you start, have two things ready:

  • the address you use for Scaricarr in the browser, for example scaricarr.example.org
  • your Scaricarr user name and password

1. Enter your server address

When you open the app for the first time, it asks for your Server address.

  1. Tap the field and type the address you use for Scaricarr in the browser. You can leave out https://.
  2. Tap Continue.

The app checks the address. If something is wrong, it tells you right below the field, for example "No Scaricarr server answered at this address." Check for typos and try again.

No server of your own yet? Tap Try the demo server instead. It has made-up titles, downloads nothing and undoes all changes every day. On its sign-in page, tap one of the accounts; no password is needed.

2. Sign in

  1. Tap Sign in.
  2. Your iPhone asks whether Scaricarr may use your server's address to sign in. Tap Continue.
  3. Your Scaricarr sign-in page opens. Enter your user name and password, the same as in the browser. If you are already signed in to Scaricarr in Safari, this step may be skipped.

The sign-in page closes by itself and the app opens your Library.

3. Look around your library

The library first shows only the titles you added yourself.

  1. Tap Filter at the top right and choose Everything. Now you see everything in your household's library.
  2. Each row shows the poster, the year, whether it is a movie or a series, its status, and who added it.
  3. Tap a title to see more about it. Tap the back arrow to return.

4. Find and add a movie or series

  1. Tap Search in the tab bar.
  2. Type at least three letters of a title.
  3. Tap Add next to a result. The app confirms with "… added.".

If you want to know more before adding it, tap the title instead of Add. You then see the poster, ratings and a short summary, and can tap Add to library at the bottom.

5. Follow it

Go back to Library. Your new title is there. Its status changes from missing to in progress and finally to present when it is ready to watch. Pull down on the list to refresh it.
